Gyotaku
Gyotaku, the ancient art of fish printing. I have studied Gyotaku and Japanese brush painting under various local artists. My process has evolved through experimenting with various mediums and papers. This work is done with non-toxic acrylic paints on Japanese rice paper. The fish are fresh catch from local Long Island waters. The fish eyes and any background colors are hand painted in watercolor after fish prints are pulled. Please appreciate the uniqueness of each piece.
